Utari, opened in 1954 as Sapporo's first Robata charcoal grill restaurant, broils fresh Atka mackerel and other seafood in a large open hearth made from Ezo spruce hollowed out in the center. Enjoy a relaxing time at the large counter of this tavern with a retreat-like atmosphere.

Opened in 1957, this is one of the pioneering Genghis Khan restaurants in Hokkaido. The meat served here is lamb shoulder from New Zealand, where the sheep are raised on abundant pasture land in a mild climate with little seasonal change in temperature. The dipping sauce, made from the restaurant’s secret recipe, contains plenty of extract of apples produced in the neighboring town Yoichi. The restaurant also offers a breathtaking view of its fresh green garden and Ishikari Bay in the distance.

Since Keishoen in Otaru is closed during winter, this new restaurant was opened in March 2003 in Susukino, to allow customers to enjoy Keishoen’s special Genghis Kahn throughout the year. The tender lamb and special sauce with a light taste have many fans. In response to requests to be able to enjoy the dish at home too, the restaurant’s original Genghis Kahn sets are also on sale.
